BY NORSE signs iconic Norwegian Sámi artist Mari Boine
By Norse Music is happy to announce a new partnership with iconic Norwegian Sámi artist Mari Boine. The singer was one of the first who combined traditional Sámi music and joik singing with modern styles, influencing many artists that we know today. Boine is also known for being in the forefront of reviving and unshaming the Sámi heritage.
Mari Boine states: “I’m honoured to join the By Norse family. I feel closely related to artists like Wardruna. Our music shares a similar path. We all take with us the best from our heritage, and mix it with modern elements.”

It is therefore such an honor and joy for me to welcome her to By Norse Music, both personally and professionally. Our initial vision of this label was to present a broad spectre of Nordic culture and artists and having the Sámi indigenous culture well represented has always been part of that vision.
